I am so pleased to tell you this summer we were awarded a 4Culture grant to help us get King County landmark status for our historic Highland Dairy Farm buildings.
The historic farm buildings include:
- The Highland Dairy Farm house built in the 1920’s
- The long barn where the farm implements were worked on and stored from the 1920’s thru the 1950’s
- The one milk barn that remains of two and was used to pasteurize the milk and put in cans to be delivered from the 1920’s through the 1950’s
- The most impressive building of all is the large barn where the cows were milked and above the cows at least 3,000 bales of hay were stored in the hayloft with the ‘cathedral’ like ceiling. Date of building to be determined in our research.
We have a new page on the website where we’ll be posting the results of this project, along with photos. Check it out.
