In this workshop you will create your own garden-inspired floral arrangement. After we take a stroll through the annual flower beds to see what’s in season, Sandy will teach you about cutting flowers properly, selecting the best seasonal varieties to use, and tips for how to make your arrangements last longer. She will then guide you through the process of making your own eye-catching floral arrangement to gift to a loved one or enjoy at home. We will provide the vase plus all of the tools, flowers, and greenery necessary (including a box to use for safe transport home). You are welcome to bring your own favorite flowers or foliage to incorporate if you’d like.

Instructor: Sandy Figel
Sandy Figel has always been passionate about flowers. She grew up in
Port Townsend, Washington and loved it when her grandmother would
let her head out into her garden to pick flowers and make bouquets. There may have also been a few times when she ventured, uninvited into neighbor’s flower beds to do a bit of snipping! Today she grows her own large variety of shrubs, flowers, and foliage specifically for cutting on a 7-acre property in the Maltby area. Nothing gives her more pleasure than heading out to the garden to find the perfect colors and textures for floral arrangements. She owns and runs a floral studio, Verbena Floral Seattle, where she teaches flower workshops and creates florals for weddings and special events.
