Learn How to Make
Leaves for the Garden
Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10 a.m.–Noon.
Class Fee and Supply Fee: $60 (includes supplies)
Instructor: Susan Harp
Minimum students: 5, Maximum 12
Unleash your inner child learning to make popular and unique cement
leaves and create some lovely garden art in the process. Susan
will teach you different ways of molding and shaping your leaves,
mixing the cement to the right consistency and other techniques
for success. These leaves can be used for whimsical display,
as bird baths in your garden...or even as part of a fountain design. This
fun, messy and creative class will require about 2 hours and you'll
get to go home with two or three different sized and shaped leaves
to display and enjoy in your garden and proudly show off to family
and friends. Towards the end of the class, Susan will demonstrate
how to paint the leaves and the type of paint she would recommend.
Susan Harp has been a gardening enthusiast for many years
and studied horticulture at Lake Washington Technical College. She
offers garden design and coaching through her company "HarpScapes" and
has lately begun adding another fun and creative angle to gardening: 'Cement
Leaf Art.' After taking a class in cement leaf art, she was
hooked, and has continued to make and offer her unique, natural
looking leaves for sale at small boutiques and Bassettis, as well
as offering classes in Cement Leaf Art.
When not gardening or making her cement leaves, she can usually
be found walking the dog or driving carpool for her three busy
kids."
