Willow weaving on obelisks |
The willow obelisk is a beautiful addition to any garden or may
be used inside your home as well. In this class you will
construct a piece that is approximately 4-5 feet tall made of willow
grown in my Snohomish garden. It will look great supporting
sweet peas, snap peas, beans, or lovely fragrant climbers. It
is also beautiful used to give height in any potted arrangement
or garden bed. This project is a great introduction
to basic weaving techniques and can be applied to many projects.
You will take home your obelisk to display/use in your garden or
garden container.
The instructor will supply the willow. Bring hand clippers,
gloves, and wear casual clothes.

I have enjoyed learning about basketry and creating pieces of functional
art for the home and garden for the past 7 years. I live
in Mountlake Terrace with my family where I have recently retired
from my 18 year home childcare business and am now working as
an organic gardener and a dog wrangler. I have a 5 acre
farm at the base of Lord Hill in Snohomish where I keep
my horses and gardens where willow, cut flowers, berries and
vegetables are grown. It is also the home of my beautiful
laying hens for which I keep for entertainment and delicious
eggs. I have been designing and making baskets and obelisks at
Bassetti’s Garden Art Show for the last two years and will
be at the show again this year. I have also conducted classes
at other venues.
